I created mylifephotography.net in December 2006 due to a “sudden moment of excitement and spur decision”. And I really mean sudden! I had always dream of doing up a simple website for myself since I was 19 years old.

I procrastinated for many years with the reasons of being too busy, not enough knowledge, too troublesome and many more that will falls into “The Top 100 Reasons Why I PROCRASTINATE”!  On the fateful day in December 2006, I was on leave, still sleeping like a pig even though it is already 10am. Then I woke up, I tell myself, I want to create website! Then I spent 15 minutes thinking of what theme to create and I visited RegisterFly to register a domain and find hosting service with my friend.

Together with my girlfriend Hui Tian, my first website was born.  We put up some simple html coding and uses image-over effects for buttons. Below is a screenshot of the simple design of the website then.

I paid near to $50 USD for some piece of coding that could display images in a slide show format, which I regreted as I don’t even use the code at all ! Anyway, I just displayed some simple photos of my grandmother’s birthday and my Bintan Resort trip at that time. Then I think, the design kinda sucks and so we redesigned the website using HTML again. At that point of time, we don”t know what is CSS. We thought that all the lines and bars in websites are really lines and bars ! So we used Photoshop and literally drew lines and bars and add as images in the HTML files ! Here is the version 2 of mylifephotography.net.

I am still not happy. I surfed around and discovered the beauty of CSS and PHP. I downloaded a free template from the website and worked out version 3 from there. The version 3 stayed for the longest period of time. I had a wordpress blog and a coppermine gallery too. Afterwhich, my “Top 100 Reaons to Procastinate” come back to possess me again! I am busy with alot of my work and personal things in life, not excluding the fact that my gf and I are also caught up with our part time degree studies.

My engine went into fire again after a long period of cooldown. I read a book “Master Your Mind. Design Your Destiny” by Adam Khoo that inspired me to want so much, so much to achieve my dreams. At this point of time, I also discovered open source content management system. And here am I making sure the version 4 of mylifephotography.net is really going to be the website that I had always dreamt of!

After months and months, I began to realize everything that I had done in Joomla (my content management system), I am trying to emulate a blog and it is beginning to bother me. I thought, why not I just use a blogging system like wordpress. And so, in June 2009, when I finished my final examinations for my degree, I converted the website into wordpress platform. You are all looking at version 5 now.
