I have spent thousand of dollars on camera bodies, thousand of dollars on camera lens, hundred of dollars on camera bags and I think the best buy of all is this simple book, which cost me around SGD$70.00. The title of this book is call, Visual Poet. As the name indicates, it is a photography book, not a techincal photography book though. This book does not tell you what is the best camera, what is the best shutter speed to use nor does it states what is the best aperture, best post, etc…

It is a very basic yet very deep and meaningful photography book.

The deepest impressions that the book left me are these few quotes:

“Logic is the enemy of creativity”

“Learn to let go”

“Photography is a way you can slow down in life and see things you normally will not see”

No matter, whether you are an amatuer or professional in photography, I believe this book will enable you to relearn what photography actually means to everyone. We normally start learning photography in a very naive and open mindset. As time pass, we are burden with the weight of life, the pressure to upgrade to the latest photography gadget and we often forgotten that the camera is used to capture memories in our life and we tried too hard to create that perfect photo.

IF you believe you have also lost touch the true meaning of photography, this book will be a good read, a perfect reminder for everyone of us, what photography truely is.

Times and times of neglection. Times and times of empty words. 2010 is here, I have to wake up.

First photo project, a simple visualisation on how I am going to start my year in the 2010. Title: Start.

Start of 2010

The start of the day from the safest place in the world,

thinking whether has my life been too comfortable,…

where they are always lights to tell me where to go,…

My feet, are they walking the path I wanted to go?

Or do I need a new start?

I have to go out, all the way out.

And start my engine,…

and plan my directions in life,…

Most of the times, I spend too much time looking backward,….

Without noticing that in front of me, lies opportunties.

and when I look up,…

I have so much more to conquer.

This is the start.

These stories firmly strengthen my belief that a man in coma or someone who just pass away, they still can hear and feel. They still can hear, but they cannot speak, cannot see, cannot move and cannot communicate. I think hearing require the least resources from a human body that why people loses their hearing ability last when their body dies.

I believe when someone dies, for some moments he still can hear the cries of his loved ones until his body completely disgenerate.  When someone is in coma, he can hear his family discussing whether to let him go or to donate his organs.  And yet both cases, they cannot do anything except to listen. Isn’t this situation worse then being dead. He will no longer be able to tell his loved one how much he loves them and will no longer be able to protect them. The most heart wrenching part is he will not be able to tell them, he is still there and he can hear.

What will you do if you have loved ones in such situation. Before you make the decision to pull the plug to make everyone life easier, I suggest you can trying anything to activate his body system again. Try things like wasabi, something to stimulate his brain, just like a spark that need to start the engine. Pour ice on his body to shock him, Pinch him. Or whatever it takes to boot up his system again.

Sound crazy? I think this is nothing as compared to letting your loved one goes when there is a chance of him still there, listening to everyone.

Most probably,  I think,  I will regret not writing my own book. I always wanted to share my views with the people around me. I want to express my appreciation for everything I have. You can tell someone something, but as time passes, we will forget. Something that is written is always there. Bodies rot, but their wisdom will stay.

Since the day, I can finally think,  my train of thoughts always follow this template:

Who, Why, How, Where, & When

I have since learn so much from everything that had happen to me and from the people I have met through my different stages of life. I want to pen all my reflections, my thoughts down so that my life is not wasted when the day I am gone.

At least I will leave a tiny footprint in this world. I think this is the purpose of life.

What have I done? What have you done?

I have a new job, nothing fantastic but it is good for me to pick up alot of business skills and networks.

For the past few months, I have been busy with my job, trying to learn and smoothen out everything. mylifephotography yet again slumped into another dark age of no rule and govern.

For the brand new year, I will be starting 2 new categories, mylife Book and photo projects, which will make it easier for me to write down my thoughts and sharing my photos.

One will be my online book. I have always wanted to write a book. I suddenly thought, why not just write it down here, it certainly could save me alot of publishing costs. The other one will be my photo projects, something that can keep me in touch with photography, the one I always wanted.
