Tokyo, Japan – Sony Corporation today announced the development of a 35mm full size (diagonal:43.3mm/Type 2.7) 24.81 effective megapixel, ultra-high speed high image quality CMOS image sensor designed to meet the increasing requirement for rapid image capture and advanced picture quality within digital SLR cameras.

Please see more information from Sony Press Release Site. Looks like Sony Alpha 900 will be fitted with this awesome 24.81 MP full frame sensor! In the latest press release, Sony has announced that it will be starting a full scale production of the sensors this year and thus Sony 900 is expected to be available only by 2009.
