Sony Alpha 350 or A300?
Wednesday, 30 January 2008

Only a few more moments before the long awaited PMA08 finally arrives and more photos of Sony's new DSLRs are already "leaking out" in the Internet. Sony fans and photographers are all looking forward to the release of 2 possible DSLR models during the show:

Sony Alpha 900 - "The mothership that will rule them all".

 A900 Prereleased Photo

Sony Alpha 300 and Sony Alpha 350 - "The first Sony DSLRs that will come with the Live View Feature"

Alpha 350

Looking at the images of "Sony Alpha 300" and "Sony Alpha 350", it seems that both CCD's resolutions will be different. A300 seems to retain the same 10.2 MP sensor as A200 and A350 seems to have a 14.2 MP label on its body.

The photo of A300 looks suspiciously like an altered photo of A200 while A350 still looks reasonably believable. Won't Sony be creating extra competition for themselves if there are going to produce an A300 that will not differ much from the Sony Alpha 200? Anyway, from some insider news in forums, Sony will be releasing 4 new DSLRs into the market this year. So it can be confirmed that th 4 Sony DSLRs will be:

  • Sony 200  - 10.2 MP
  • Sony 300 LV - 10.2 MP
  • Sony 350 LV - 14.2 MP
  • Sony 900 - 24.81 MP

It is more or less confirmed that Sony Alpha 300 LV will be similar to Sony 200 with an upgraded Live View function and different set of display panel and Sony Alpha 350 will have a 14.2 MP sensor instead. Hopefully, Sony is not just punching in the megapixels without considering the noise level of the images. More updates during next few days!
