Creating borders in Photoshop can be much simpler than you thought.  I can still remember a few years ago, I literally tried to draw bars of white lines and “paste” onto my photos to create a “border” for them! In fact, creating simple and nice border in Photoshop can be done in 2 simple steps.

Step 1: Open the photo in Adobe Photoshop. Go to Image in the top toolbar and select Canvas Size.

Step 2: Make sure the “relative” checkbox is checked. This ensures whatever value you had selected will just be appended onto the photo. Select the canvas colour to be white. This is the colour of the border that is going to be created. You can select other colours if you prefer. The photo used in this example is a 529 * 332 pixels photo so I will just need a 10*10 pixel border.

A border is created however due to the white background of this website, I will need another black border surrounding the white border I had created to distinguish the border from the website background. How do I do that?

Simple! Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 again, except this time round, choose a 2*2 pixel black border. The black border will append onto the white border that is just created. Now, creating borders can be so simple right?
